FAQ's

What does acupuncture help with?

Acupuncture can help with a variety of issues, including but not limited to:

  • Chronic and acute musculoskeletal pain (pain anywhere in the body, tendonitis, arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, plantar fasciitis, and much more)
  • Headaches/Migraines
  • Digestive complaints (constipation, diarrhea, abdominal pains, IBS, etc.)
  • Sleep disturbances (insomnia, restless sleep, fatigue, etc.)
  • Women's health (PMS symptoms, menstrual irregularities, menopausal symptoms, etc.)
  • Immune system support
  • Men's health (prostate health, infertility, sexual dysfunction, etc.)
  • Urinary conditions (incontinence, urinary retention, frequent urination, etc.)
  • Respiratory conditions (asthma, allergies, etc.)
  • Mental health (depression, anxiety, etc.)
  • General stress relief

Does acupuncture hurt?

Acupuncture is not typically a painful experience. You may not even feel most of the needle insertions. There are certain areas of the body that are more sensitive, such as hands and feet. You may feel a mild sensation during needle insertion but it is quick and feels more like a discomfort rather than a pain.

How does acupuncture work?

Acupuncture uses fine, sterile filiform needles. They are inserted in different areas of the body on acupuncture points to stimulate your nervous and immune system and encourage your body's natural healing response.

Why should I choose acupuncture?

It is one of the oldest medicines to exist for a reason. Acupuncture is around 3000 years old and has been perfected and successfully used throughout history. It is a natural, holistic medicine that uses your body's innate responses to promote healing, and does not give you the unwanted side effects that often come with medications. Acupuncture works WITH your body to balance your various systems. It treats both the branches and the root of your problem which leads to a deeper healing that other medicines may not be able to give you.

How many treatments will I need?

Every person and condition is different. The number of sessions will vary depending on an individual's response to treatment and the severity of one's symptoms. The effects of acupuncture build over time in your body with consistent sessions. It is fairly possible to feel relief after the first treatment, but deeper and longer-lasting healing can only happen with multiple sessions. It is ideal to have these consecutive sessions close together for the best results.

Do I have to be sick in order to receive acupuncture?

No you don’t have to be sick, acupuncture can be used as a preventative medicine for health maintenance and for general stress relief. It is wonderful for your body in sickness and in health. It keeps your body’s systems at their optimal strength and fortifies your immune system in order to fight off pathogens.

What should I do to prepare for my appointment?

Make sure to eat before you come in. This will improve the quality of your treatment and help you avoid dizziness from the needles. Wear comfortable, loose and easily-adjustable clothing to make necessary acupuncture points accessible.
